Major improvements to a hasty jam version



This update fixes major problems in the Isolation jam version and also brings improvements to visuals and gameplay. The jam version was done from scratch in about a week so it contained an assortment of annoying bugs. Key features:

  • Map generator completely reworked. No more game breaking bugs like isolated rooms, invisible windows and doors in corners.
  • God rays emanating from windows. They add quite a bit to the mood but also enhance gameplay giving a good visual clue about which parts of the room are actually lit by direct sunlight.
  • Glow effects for more immersion.
  • Floor patterns adding some subtle variety to rooms.
  • Larger rooms can now contain columns giving Remnants more places to hide behind.

I also started working on redesigning the Remnant. The concept is to make it into a more of a menacing figure, possibly with a couple of Lovecraftian tentacles waving around. This is still wip and not included in the release.
