Are you a recluse? Or a vampire? Or just a regular introvert? This game is for you.

You're trapped within The Facility, a realm of rooms penetrated by perpetual sunset. With a fatal sensitivity to light, the sun's glow is a slow-motion execution. Your only objective is a full blackout. But in the calming darkness of the shadows lurk the Remnants, shadow-creatures who see the light as salvation.

Engage in a tense game of hide-and-seek in this action/puzzler, where you must strategically use the light to defeat the Remnants, all while desperately shielding yourself from its deadly toll. You will quickly cultivate a love-hate relationship with sunlight.

How to play

This is a fully functional single level demo. Features or gameplay elements may be added in the future.

  • Your objective is to shut all windows in The Facility.
  • Make sure there are no Remnants in a room before you shut its last window, otherwise the Remnant will insta-kill you.
  • A Remnant is only visible and dissolvable under direct sunlight.
  • Avoid sunlight. You suffer from extreme sensitivity to light. Exposure to light drains your soul. Direct sunlight drains it much faster.
  • Replenish your soul by waiting (RMB) in a completely shut room. All windows and all doors must be shut.

Hints

  • To search for a Remanat in a room, shift the sunlight by waiting (RMB).
  • A room may or may not contain a Remnant. The starting room is safe.
  • A Remnant will engage only when you shut all windows in the room.
  • Click on a visible part of a Remnant to dissolve it.
  • A hiding Remnant never moves and never leaves its room.
  • If you're quick, you can escape an attacking Remnant. Leave the room before the last window is done shutting. Returning to the room will be deadly.
  • If there are too few windows in a room, open some doors to let the light from other rooms in.
  • The more window area in a room, the greater the light exposure.
  • A room with all windows shut has zero exposure.
  • You can replenish your soul by waiting (RMB) in a completely shut room. All windows and all doors must be shut.
  • More exposure drains your soul faster.
  • Avoid direct sunlight. It greatly increases exposure.

This game has a unique and addictive gameplay. Easy to understand and fun to play, it’s perfect for everyone who likes to isolate themselves from time to time. The recent updates made the game feel very polished. I’m excited for the future development of the game! Keep up the good work! :)

Thank you! Much appreciated.

The atmosphere is real eye candy. I love the subtle color range and contrast with the light. That said, I love how isolation is a goal, not something you want to avoid. Perfect for introverts. It's quite intuitive, there are doors to open/close, and windows you must shut to save yourself from the burning exposure to the sun (feeling a bit like a vampire here :)). For now, I have managed to solve a tiny (obvious) and small map (enjoyable), almost medium, and I am yet to find out how well I'll do in the harder levels. I'm not fond of "Karen from the office" jumping me, but she gives just the right amount of incentive to try to avoid and kill her in the next round :). All in all, it's catchy and playable.

Hey, thanks for playing and commenting! I'm glad you like it.

I've got couple more Karen-spotting comments already :)
To be honest, it is just a placeholder. Should probably replace it with something scarier. Although, truth be told, not many things are more scary than a Karen  :)

If you intend to try a larger map, please note that the level generator can sometimes screw up by creating isolated (pun intended) unreachable rooms. It was put together hastily for the jam. So immediately after you start, check the minimap. If there are any isolated rooms, just exit to menu and start a new game.

Sorry for this. I already re-did the generator but can't upload the update until jam voting is over.

The update will also feature some glow effects to make the sun feel more "burning".
